Washington State Ballet
The Academy focuses primarily on classical ballet based training, with emphasis on Russian style and form. The curriculum includes technique as well as pointe, contemporary, Pilates, body strength and conditioning. All student placement is at the discretion of the teaching faculty.

Children’s Division (Pre-ballet, Levels 1)

For children 3.5 years to 6 yrs old AWSB offers pre-ballet. Beginning at age 5, students can enter Level 1. These beginning levels of training are geared to prepare students with solid basics needed for the upper division levels.

Children’s Division (Levels 2 & 3)

For students 8 years and older, who have strong basic technique and terminology. Students in level 3 learn pre-pointe technique in preparation for the pre-professional level.

Pre-Professional Division (Levels 4, 5 & 6)

Pointe work is introduced in Level 4. The upper division classes are designed to develop the technique, artistry, discipline & endurance needed in preparation for a professional career.

Adult Division

This division is for teenagers & adults not pursuing a professional career, who nonetheless desire to start or continue their ballet training.
